Get to know Foley Alumna Krissta Allen, Class of 2007
Where were you born and what year did you graduate from Foley High School?
I was born and raised in Bon Secour, Al., and I graduated in 2007.
Did you participate in any extracurricular activities? Were you any good?!
Did you go to college, business, or technical school after graduation?
After graduation, I was granted a full ride music scholarship to Faulkner State. To celebrate , I rode my horse Sundance on the last day for a Senior Prank, all painted in gold and blue. That made the Foley High ’07 newspaper, and I was also voted biggest redneck girl of 2007. Who knew right ?
What sort of jobs have you done since graduation? Do you have a favorite?
I acquired professional musician status and sing all over the region. I also have a cosmetology, pharmacy tech, and professional horse trainer licenses!
If you hadn’t become a _____, what might you have done?
I’ve accomplished everything I wanted to do in life, no regrets!
What life lessons has adversity taught you?
Adversity taught me to strive harder in what I wanted, because at the end of the day, the person stopping me from achieving MY goals was ME.
What are one or two things you really miss about high school?
Two things I missed about high school was being a leader in encouraging classmates and friends to stand up in their beliefs and ignore anyone who tried to insult who they were or who they wanted to be. After all, true friends will stand by you 100% wether you wanted to be a cheerleader or an ROTC member. Diversity changes the world.
Who was the person who most influenced you and how?
I didn’t have just one person that influenced me. Instead it was many who influenced me by their outlooks on life and how they hurdled over their obstacles with pride!
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
My plans are to travel EVERYWHERE! Especially places of mystery, hauntings, and spiritual destinations.
What is one thing you would encourage high school students to do before they graduate?
My advice to anyone who is reading this and is in the depths of struggle, discovering yourself, your goals, and deciding who you want to be. Never ever let anyone dictate who you want to be; they will cloud your mind and make you feel like you won’t be accepted. They will make you feel like you have no control in your own life. Guess what? YOU’RE YOUR OWN BOSS, PERIOD!
This is your life, and you’re only given ONE! Anyone who stands in your way or talks you down “gots ta GOOOOO!” In four years, they won’t matter and will have no say anyway, so don’t let them do it now. If you can go against the crowd and follow your own dreams, yes, you may lose some friends. But you’ll realize they weren’t your true friends in the first place, and you’ll actually find yourself with new and better friends who will respect your diversity and encourage you to strive on! You don’t achieve goals by letting someone else tell you what to do . Do it yourself!
