Attention all gamers! Get your hammers and piggy banks ready for the new release of “Hyrule Warriors.” Nintendo and Tecmo Koei have develop the new hack-and-slash game and are planning to release it September 26 for Wii U. The game interlaces The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors.
The game has the hack-and-slash platform of Tecmo Koei’s Dynasty Warriors with characters and destinations from the Zelda universe. It is a non-canon game that takes place within a different timeline, with the forces of Hyrule battling the forces of evil. The standard Zelda characters will be used in the system, including the hero Link, Sheik, Princess Zelda, Lana, Impa, the Goron chief Darunia, even Midna. Characters that have just been added include Ganondorf, Moon, and Dark Link. Each character comes with their own unique fighting styles issued in previous Zelda games, like Link’s sword and shield styles.
Battle destinations in Hyrule Warriors have been adopted from the Zelda series. Battlefields include Twilight Field and The Palace of Twilight from “Twilight Princess”, Lake Hylia from “Ocarina of Time”, The Sealed grounds from Skyward Swords”, and so many more!
Features from the Dynasty Warrior’s franchise include a loot system, allowing you to find items and other things to improve their characters. Heart containers and heart pieces can be found to improve your character’s health along with specific weapons for each character to improve their attacks.
Hyrule Warriors is an interesting mix between The Legend of Zelda characters and a Dynasty Warriors gameplay and feel. Although questions arise as to whether the game will be released before, during, or even after Electronic Entertainment Expo, 2015. Previous Zelda games worked in a “linear” fashion, where the character would go from one place to another in an orderly fashion. But the Wii U release allows an “open world” game, meaning the character can freely choose their next destinations, giving it a more action-adventure feeling.
