This week in Baldwin county, students are in anxious anticipation for the biggest sports rivalry around. Twitter posts with playful trash talk, decorations in hallways, dress-up days, and Homecoming celebrations all culminate when Foley and Robertsdale play each other in Foley’s homecoming game.
Foley’s celebrations have been nothing less than grandiose, with dress down days like “Toon Out The Bears” and “King Of The Carnivores,” and the homecoming dance’s theme of the “Carnival Carnivores.”
As an attendee of Foley and a former student at Robertsdale, I’ve found myself caught up in the middle of it all. I attended Robertsdale in 9th grade, and I’ve been at Foley ever since. I am still friends with many people who go to Robertsdale. That said, I’m not above the playful trash talk between the schools.
Foley has an absolutely impressive record in the matchup, 75-16. Last year at Robertsdale, the Lions took their 75th historical win in a 47-7 rout of the Bears.
Sports Correspondent Daniel Hunt says “I would be stunned if Robertsdale were to take this game.” While all of us at Foley agree with Daniel,. this year Robertsdale hopes to change that.
Be at Ivan Jones Stadium at 6:45 this Friday to catch the exciting football action.
