What is Blue Collar Country you ask?
Blue Collar Country is the first installment of a fun and family environment centered in Baldwin County, thanks to the hilarious comedic team of Bill Engvall, Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, backed up by business icon Tony Orlando.
According to the lead developers, by the summer of 2015, the city hopes to be opening the doors to a new 100,000-square-foot event and sports center based at a tourism hub of hotels and multi-use ball fields.
This is the ground-base to what officials expect to be much more to come.
Where will this be located?
As seen on the site map, the Blue Collar Country entertainment complex will be located in Foley, Alabama, north of Baldwin County road 20 between the Beach Express and Juniper Street.
What exactly will be built?
Phase 1 of Blue Collar Country will include a 27 million dollar sportsplex, a restaurant, and a conference center. The sports tourism complex will accommodate high school soccer, football, basketball and lacrosse tournaments.
The main retail and entertainment area around the lake and the RV park to the north will be phase two of the projects, which will hopefully bring multi-generations to our area for live music of all genres.
The Foley City Council voted Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, to authorize the mayor to sign lease agreements with the Blue Collar developers for the event center and sports complex. That should pave the way for the overall 520-acre project.
Why do teens care about Blue Collar Country?
This new business venture will create an estimated economic impact upward of $170 million. More than 1,000 new jobs will be created, many of which will be filled by teenagers from this area.
The sports and entertainment complex is expected to offer restaurants, an indoor water park, shopping, amusement rides, hotels, and an RV resort. Not only can teens work here, they can shop, dine, and play here.
In addition to the events center, there will be a dozen multi-use ball fields and a championship-level field. Teens participating in high school tournament sports like soccer, football, basketball and lacrosse will enjoy the brand new facilities.
This lallapalooza of activities and dining opportunities will flourish in this area. Girls could shop, while the guys could enjoy watching a game of football with their friends. It would be an overall place for everybody to enjoy.
What can we expect from additional phases?
The overall project, as currently envisioned, could include as many as three hotels, 71 retail stores, eight restaurants and 140 RV parking spaces. A promenade will circle one of six lakes, leading visitors through themed retail shops and the activity center. What a great place to take a date for dinner or a concert, followed up by a romantic walk around the lake.
Sports, comedy, camping, shopping, music, dining and water park fun. Blue Collar Country will have it all!
