Get to know foreign exchange student En Tse Chen, better known as Adden!
Where are you from?
What is different between school there and here in Foley?
In Taiwan’s school we start school at 6:30 and finish at 5:15 in the afternoon. And we don’t have a cafeteria in school. We have a store where we can buy lunch by yourself. In school students don’t change and move classes, teachers change. Our lunch time is 40 minutes, we have 10 minutes to clean the class, and we can take a 30 minute nap.
What has been your favorite experience in America so far?
Do you play any sports and if so how long have you been playing?
I’ve played table-tennis 6 years, tennis 2 years, and badminton 4 and a half years.
Do you have any special talents or unique traits?
I play guitar, but not very well because I just learned 2 months before I left Taiwan.
What is different about life in general in America and where you’re from?
In America, there have been many times we usually have potatoes in meals. I don’t really like potatoes. I like fried rice and noodles better.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to listen to music like Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Her English name is Puff Kuo.
Who do you look up to the most?
May Day: it’s a Taiwan band. It’s most popular in Asia. Their stories are very interesting for me.
When you graduate high school, what are your plans?
I think I will finish my Taiwan senior high school and I hope I can go to American college and maybe stay or come home to find work.
The exchange company that students go through is called EF High School Exchange Year. If anyone is interested in studying abroad EF has a program that they can join. Host families are also needed for next school year.
