Mrs. Goodwin, Foley 1998 graduate, looks back at her high school days!
Did you have favorite classes or favorite teachers?
I loved Mrs. Taylor’s AP Literature and English class and Ms. O was just crazy.
Did you go to prom?
I went to prom my senior year. I wasn’t too into dancing but had a great time that night with some of my best friends.
What are some extracurricular activities you were in?
Student Council, Interact, National Honor Society, pianist at my church
Do you have any good stories to share?
On the night of our graduation, a group of us went to Camp Beckwith and had a flour sock war. We weren’t the partying type (Nerds Unite), so we pummeled each other with flour bombs all night instead.
Where did you go to college?
Toccoa Falls College, GA
Why did you choose to become an educator?
I wanted to change the world. That was the beginning anyway. Now I realize that the reason I became an educator was because I wanted to inspire at least one person to see literature in a different way. I wanted to be the teacher who people would sometimes loathe, but appreciate years down the road.
If you could go back and relive your youth, would you do anything differently?
I would probably spend less on clothes and save it for pizza in college. Ramen noodles for four years straight was probably not the best college diet.
What do you miss about high school?
I miss the calmness. Life gets really chaotic after you graduate and it just gets crazier as you age.
