Former offensive coordinator for the Hoover Bucs’, Mr. Tad Niblett, is now the Head Coach of the Foley Lions.
Coach Niblet replaced Todd Watson, who accepted a job at Troy University as Troy’s director of football operations and director of high school relations in January. He was a great leader and took the Lions to the semi-finals in the previous season.
Coach Niblett is also the brother of Josh Niblett, which is currently the Head Coach of the Hoover Bucs’. Before Coach Niblett left Hoover, he helped the Bucs’ win four state titles and earn eight state championship game appearances.
Russ Moore, Interim Assistant Superintendent, had certain standards for finding a new head coach for the Lions. Coach Niblett definitely fits the qualifications he was looking for in a coach. “We wanted someone who had been there and done that at the highest level and had experience to take us to the top,” Mr. Moore said. “Todd did a good job of getting us to an echelon we hadn’t been in a while and even beyond that this past season. We don’t want to take a step back. I thought it was important that the person we hired had at least been in the hunt for a state title. Tad has been there a lot.”
Coach Niblett taught math classes at Hoover High School. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harding University in Physical Ed. He also has a Master of Science degree from Troy University in Educational Leadership. Coach Niblett has spent many years in the classroom as a teacher.
Can Coach Tad Niblett lead the Lions to a 2015 state championship? We’re betting on it! Practices begin for the Lions in the spring.
