Get to know Foley High School Alumnus Paul Adams!
My name is Sandra Adams, and I am writing this information for my son, Paul Adams. He was deployed last July and sent into a hostile environment over on the other side of Africa in Djibouti that borders Somalia. Internet connection is not available there, so he would not have known about the opportunity to answer these questions himself.
Paul has always loved his Foley Lion heritage; he went through all four Foley feeder schools. And I think our Foley Lions need to remember our past students that are out there fighting to protect our freedoms. Because of our soldiers, up and coming young men and women can follow their own dreams, whether that’s to become a doctor, a lawyer, or another Julio Jones. Paul actually blocked for Julio many times. Other players on Paul’s teams like Jason Adams, Austin Sidwell, and James Patterson did not become phenoms in the NFL, but rather they gave themselves as soldiers for our country.
I wanted you to get to know my son Paul Adams.
1. Place of birth and year you graduated Foley High School
2. Did you participate in any extracurricular activities? Were you any good?!
Paul played football under Coach Smith and Coach Watson on the offensive line. He was very good and even scored a touch down once, even though he was just a lineman.
3. Did you go to college, business/tech school after graduation?
Paul earned a football scholarship to Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, and played there on the offensive line and as also played as center.
4. What sort of jobs have you done since graduation? Do you have a favorite?
On Oct, 15 2011, Paul married Tiffany Biggs, a 2010 Foley graduate who was in the Mighty Band for Lion Land. Paul went into the Florida Army National Guard and trained at Fort Benning, Georgia in 2012. After college, Paul went to work for Bank of America for a few years in Pensacola, Florida. Then after marrying Tiffany, they moved back to Foley, and Paul went to work for Riviera Utilities, where he still works today.
On August 12, 2014, they were blessed with a baby girl named Kaylee.
Paul was deployed on July 25, 2015 to Djibouti, Africa, and we pray for his and his troop’s safety when they are out in the field and not on a base.
5. If you hadn’t become a _____, what might you have done?
If he hadn’t gone into the work field right out of college, I believe he would have done the military full-time. He loves it! He’s committed to it.
6. What life lessons has adversity taught you?
Life Lessons that Paul has learned…He’s tough, strong-willed, and never gives up. Whatever life throws at him, he fights even harder to accomplish his goals, and he does!
7. One or two things you really miss about high school?
Two things Paul would miss about high school? Football and Mrs. Maurin’s class.
8. Who were the people who most influenced you?
Coach Hammack and Mrs. Maurin.
9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
If Paul could travel anywhere, it would be to New Zealand! He has always talked about going there.
10. What is one thing you would encourage high school students to do before they graduate?
I know Paul would encourage all young people to live out their dreams but do it with sensibility.
