The Mighty Band from Lion Land left at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 26th, and competed in two marching festivals.
The first contest was in Rehobeth and the second one was in Daleville.
The band earned straight superior ratings in marching, performance, color guard, drum majors, dance team, drumline, and band. They earned the highest scores possible at both festivals. The scores Saturday night in Daleville were the highest scores of the night for any band.
The Daleville drumline and color guard scores were the highest that the band program has ever received.
“The best compliment given to the band came from a parent from another band program,” band director Carl Major said. “She told me, ‘Your students were just awesome. I watched your kids all day long, with their shirts tucked in, clapping for the other bands, and very polite at the concessions.'”
Mr. Major thought this compliment was better than getting any trophy!
The band also received a lot of comments from other band directors and judges about the band and how disciplined they were.
The entire group arrived at home around 1:30 a.m., which meant it was a long but very rewarding day for the Foley High School’s Mighty Band from Lion Land.
