Last week, I traveled with the Lion Pride News crew to Troy University for J-day.
Journalism Day is an event they hold yearly to recognize middle and high schools for their communications programs. Shortly after arriving at the university, students got together in the ballroom to receive awards in multiple categories.
Lion Pride News came home with two first place certificates in Best Program and Best Newscast. Then we had a guest speaker explain Troy’s Journalism program.
At this point, students chose mini-classes to go to from multiple options. Once we picked three seminars to attend, we were off. As part of this field trip, I attended photography, sports reporting, and interviewing classes.
The campus was beautiful, and it was an experience I don’t think we will forget. Everyone who went came back home with many goodies and memories from this experience.
Representing the Lion Pride News were the following students:
- Micah Battaglia
- Cullen Dossett
- Kelli Brown
- Raine Hinkle
- Abbie Wester
- Ashley Patterson
- Victoria Cirilli
- Yu-Chieh Chang
- Shelby Hoffman
- Sherry Lee
- Cayetana Lopez.
Also attending J-Day were former Lion Pride News advisor Mrs. Sherry Lee, who started the television news program at Foley and retired last year, and current Lion Pride News advisor, Mr. Marion Lee.
