Kyle Taylor is a senior at Foley High School. He is known by most people because of his height, long hair, and beard.
What do you like most about being tall?
“Being able to get things off of the top shelf and in cabinets. Also being able to see everyone in the school hallways. I enjoy it.”
Why do you like to skate?
“It is a good stress-reliever. I like that I can go skate if something bad is going on in my life, and it makes me feel better. I like that you get to be creative with it and go at your own pace. With baseball, when I was younger, a coach was always telling me what to do, but with skating, you get to do whatever you want. I like being able to have competitions with my friends and seeing if they’re able to land a trick, and I like seeing if I can do it better.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
“Hopefully, exactly where I want to a be. I want to have my skate company by that time, and I hope to make a good amount of money. I want to be eating some gold waffles with strawberries on top, real fancy. I also want to have a family.”
When did you decide to grow your hair out and why?
“I started growing my hair out in the beginning of seventh grade, and I grew it out because it was trending at the time. Then, it just stuck and now I’m Jesus.”
What is your favorite clothing company and why?
“Probably Supreme because all of my favorite skaters skate for Supreme. The Supreme team is just insane and their clothing is over hype, but it boosts the confidence. Ya feel, B?”
You have a group of close friends who hang out together. How did you come up with your squad name, “Canoe Crew?”
“I was camping and our campsite was set up by this river. People would go by in tubes and canoes. The people in the campsite next to ours would always yell things like, ‘Do you even canoe?’ After that my brain just kind of clicked and I was like ‘Oh, canoe crew.’ And, actually, we don’t even canoe.”
When did you decide to get gauges, and why did you get them so big?
“My neighbor, who I skated with when I was younger, had gauges. Just being influenced is really all it was. I’m staying the gauge size I am now because I don’t think I could handle them bigger. I got them so big because its addicting. I was only supposed to go to double zeros, but I kept on getting them bigger.”
