Experience the true essence of Foley, Alabama in its seemingly hidden places, that the locals know so well!
During the tourist months of the year, our little town becomes a buzzing hub for vacationers to spend their time shopping and driving around. Drawn to the big attractions, such as the Tanger Outlets and Lamberts, these tourists crowd our streets with out-of-state tags and matching neon t-shirts. As for the locals who won’t dare to venture out into these crowds, we find other ways to enjoy our beautiful town and all its overlooked gems.
First is in uptown Foley, where you will find beautiful historic buildings dated with cascading wrought iron railings and vintage architecture, all connected by quaint sidewalks and lush greenery on every corner. Among these shops lies Stacey’s Rexall Drug store, home to the best ice cream in town. Aside from the delicious homemade desserts, Stacey’s is also a great place to stop and have lunch with friends and family while getting that charming southern feel.
Just down the road is another hidden place with a down-to-earth, homey feel called the Copper Kettle. Their exceptionally wide variety of teas and is enough to conquer any tea lover’s craving. Not to mention the amazing tea expert staff members and owner who makes this experience one to keep bringing you back. Making it the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon tea in peace and quiet.
It doesn’t get more local than the Foley’s Farmers Market on Saturdays. Near Wolf Bay Lodge, you will find all Foley’s local farmers stocked full of the seasons homegrown fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, and local honey. The warm, welcoming atmosphere this pop-up market brings to your Saturday mornings is truly something special.
While we still like to spend are days shopping at the mall and eating at all the hot spots in town, it’s always nice to be apart of the community and appreciate our beautiful town for all that it has to offer.
