Foley is an amazing place to live. The city gives individuals a sense of home and yet stays up to date with modern changes. To prove this, many exciting new places are arriving soon to make Foley their home.
The pedestrian crossover was opened on highway 59 recently. This stunning bridge can hold up to 64,602 pounds of weight, is 110-foot span, has 12 ft wide walkway, has 18 ft vertical clearance over highway, and the most astonishing part, it also has elevators. These will help the poor soul who is exhausted from all the fun activities occurring in the area or if you just want to have some fun!
This bridge provides safety for roaming pedestrians; it also helps the economic efforts being made in the downtown area by allowing easier access to shopping without crossing the highway in traffic.
The sports complex was just recently finished. This area includes 15 soccer fields and one championship stadium where many events were held recently, such as NCAA’s SunBelt Conference Women’s Championship, Alabama Soccer Association State Cup tournament series for youth soccer, and the NIRSA National Soccer Championships.
These events brought thousands of first time visitors to Foley, and the fields and stadium will continue to draw thousands of people each year for sports.
But that is not all we have occurring in Foley.
A destination resort named OWA is currently under construction at the corner of the Foley Beach Express and Baldwin County 20. This is really big time news for our small town.
OWA is a 520 acre resort with phases one and two expected to be opened in 2017, with additions added throughout the years. The cost for this resort/amusement park is $500 million over a five-year period. OWA will drastically increase the economy with the a splendid addition of $78.5 million in payroll to the South Alabama region and an increase in employment.
So if you are out there looking for a job, OWA may be the place for you.
And if you are looking for some fun and entertainment, Foley, Alabama, may be the place for you!
