The International Coastal Cleanup was started to help engage volunteers to collect any type of marine debris to potentially save a plant or animal’s life.
On Saturday, September 30th, a few students from Foley High got together and took to the water to make a difference in nature, even if it was a small difference, that meant something to them.
The students pulled out 700 lbs. of the 1600 lbs. of debris and trash that were cleared throughout Wolf Bay and its tributaries. Most of the debris, including construction items, had to be towed out of the swamp to the pilot boat.
It was very fun and productive for the students to help rid at least some trash and waste from our natural surroundings.
