National College Application Week will be October 30th-November 3rd.
The purpose of this week is for every student to get the support they need to apply to college successfully.
College application week has grown into an incredible school-wide celebration of the college-going process and the students who undertake it. It is one thing to get students applying, and building a college-going culture at school, state, and national levels, but it is also key to moving the needle on college enrollment and completion outcomes.
During this week, some Alabama D1 and D2 schools will actually wave their application fees, which can sometimes cost up to $45.
The counseling department will be making specific slips for each senior to go by the library or cafeteria at their reserved personal time. These passes will be given out in home room each day. Counselors will see four to five senior home rooms each day throughout the week. Their application time should not last longer than 40 minutes.
The entire senior class will be able to apply to college successfully with the counselors during their personal scheduled time. Seniors will only be excused if they have their counseling pass and bring it back signed by the counselor. It is mandatory that seniors meet with the counselors during their time slot.
This is a great opportunity for seniors and highly recommended that they attend.
“I know they can do it; we have awesome students!” says Mrs. Baxter, the Foley High School career coach.
Once seniors have applied, they get to sign a big banner and have their picture made.
