Foley FFA has lots of great news to announce as we begin the new school year.
The Foley FFA Aquaculture team won 2nd place in the state in June. This was the first time ever that Foley High School was represented in this competition. Team members for Aquaculture CDE are: Juan Otero, Ryan Groves, Sydney Moore, and Allie Quinley.
Foley FFA also competed in the Ag Construction event and placed 3rd in the state. Team members for this event are Ethan Speed, Zac Black, Angel Manzano, and Vivian Prevatte.
The Foley FFA also received the 100% membership award from Alabama FFA at the State Convention this year.
The Foley FFA Veterinary Science team will be going to the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis Oct. 24-28 to compete in the National FFA CDE Finals. The team will be representing Alabama in the competition. They competed in the Alabama FFA Finals in June of this year and won 1st place, qualifying them for national competition. Their event is a 2-day competition consisting of identification of animal breeds, equipment, parasites, and life cycles. They also take a written exam, a math practicum, perform various procedures, and have a team event.
Students on the team are Madison Dees, Madison Broadwell, Kat DuBois, and Amber Cruz. Also, Amber Cruz was the top high-scoring individual in the state competition.
