The Lions got their first win of the season Friday night by beating Alma Bryant 30-17.
Foley fell down 9-0 in the 1st quarter, but a 3 yard touchdown run by Iverson Armstrong gave the Lions their first score of the season, making it 9-7. With under a minute to go until halftime, Forrest Taylor nailed a long field goal to give Foley the lead at the break.
Once the second half came, the Lions opened it up. Taylor knocked another long field goal through the posts in the 3rd quarter to stretch the lead to 4. After a blocked punt by Dee Johnson, the offense was set up in perfect field position, and Dalton Gideons took it into the end zone to boost the Lion lead to 20-9.
With 4th quarter still showing the same score, Taylor knocked his last field goal of the game. On the next Bryant possession, Donald Barnett took an interception all the way back for a touchdown, making the score now 30-9.
Bryant eventually scored one last touchdown before the game was over, making the final score 30-17.
Foley sits at 1-3 on the year and will be playing at home this Friday, taking on the Baker Hornets for Foley’s Homecoming game.
