The Foley High School Steel Band is going to Birmingham for a state-wide superintendent conference. The students, under the direction of Carl Major and Jimmy O’Cain, will be taking the 3-hour trip on a charter bus on December 7th, and returning the 8th.
The band was chosen through votes, competing for the spot against other bands around the state. They will be playing Christmas songs such as Frosty the Snowman, Santa’s in the House, Carol of the Funk, and some regular tunes such as Jump in the Line, Under the Sea, and Hard Times.
While the Steel Band is gone on the trip, the rest of the Foley Band will be marching in the annual city Christmas parade in the morning on December 7th. We will be handing over our band pants until our trip to Disney World in the spring, where we will be marching in a Disney parade.
