The Pride of Foley LEO Club held the new member inductions in the Foley High School library on Thursday, January 10th.
There were 22 student members present to be officially inducted and become a LEO Lion, as well as the sponsor for the new group, Mrs. Brittany Eames.
The LEO club is a youth organization of Lions Club International that was founded December 5, 1957. The letters in LEO represent Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity. The LEO clubs help encourage the youth to go out and participate in many service opportunities that are in their surrounding areas, which helps them to develop their leadership qualities.
There are currently over 160,000 members in over 140 countries all over the globe.
Newly inducted President of Foley High’s LEO Club, Sherman McCarthy, received an award that afternoon. The award is a Certificate of Appreciation from the current Lions International Director. The Lion members who presented him the award are Lion Council Chair Dora Hartsock and Foley Lion’s President Tammy Kinney.
If you have a family member or friend who was inducted, then be sure to congratulate them on this outstanding achievement!
