The girls soccer team played their first season game at home against St. Michaels on February 20th, 2019. The JV played at 5:00 and the varsity following at 7:00.
The JV played extremely well and kept fighting to win until the end of the game. Despite their efforts to score, they played amazing defense and did not allow a single goal, making the final score 0-0.
The Varsity tried out a new formation in their opening game and played as if nothing had changed. The girls put a ton of pressure on St. Michaels, scoring 7 goals and making the final score 7-0.
When asked about his thoughts about the game and how the teams played, head Coach Chris Hammac said, “I thought that St. Michaels held their formation really well and knew what they wanted to do. I thought they played extremely hard, but I felt like we just out played them. I also feel like they were a little confused on our formation, which helped us. I believe we played really fast, hard, and made good choices with support and with the ball. There is always room for improvement, and I’m sure we will.”
Foley competes next against Daphne on February 22nd starting at 5 p.m.
