Berkleigh Cirilli is a teacher in the English Department at Foley High School. She was recently chosen as January’s Teacher of the Month. We asked her some questions to get to know her better.
Where were you born, and what high school did you graduate from? I grew up here in Foley and graduated from Foley High School in 1983.
Your first job was what? Lifeguard at Gulf State Park.
What college did you graduate from, and what are your degrees in?
Troy State University; B.S. In English/Creative Writing/Political Science
What classes do you teach now? English 11, The Novel, Film & Literature
What have you taught before? English 9, Journalism, Newspaper Production, Oral Communications
Do you have a trademark expression? “Hey Soandso, you’re an idiot.”
The best advice you would give a 20-year-old would be: “Don’t be an idiot!”
What would you do if you won the lottery? Pick five of my students and pay for their college.
If you wrote a book, what would it be about? Teaching for Dummies
Do you like scary movies or books? The only scary movie/book I like is Pet Cemetery by Stephen King.
What would you like to do during Spring Break? Go to my favorite fishing spot and fish…
