Hannah Martin is a freshman at Foley High School. She is in Newspaper and loves her classes. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and family. Her hobbies are guitar, doodling, and cooking. She loves animals and plans on becoming a vet when she graduates college. She has a goofy personality and loves to make people laugh. When she isn’t doing these things, you can most likely find her in her room stocked up with snacks watching Netflix.
What’s your favorite outdoor/indoor activity and why?
I love to go canoeing and camping. I also love to play video games; I love both indoor and outdoor activities the same, because they help me relax, and they’re very fun. Canoeing is my favorite out of all of the activities, because I favor it more. I love the water, eating fruit on a hot summer day, and just having fun in general.
What is your favorite time of the day/week/or month and why?
I love summer time and winter the same. I do love the date of my birthday, which happens to be Christmas. I also love Halloween, which is the best time to dress spooky. Summer and winter are my favorites because in the summertime, you go swimming and go to fairs, but in wintertime, you get to hang out with family and sit next to the fireplace.
What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?
I would always get in trouble at my granny’s house. If there was a marker or stamp involved, it was most likely my doing. I would always blame my mistakes on my Aunt Stacey. My cousin would help me, but she was a really good kid, so I would always get in trouble for her doings as well.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
I miss not having to worry about everything. When I was a kid, all I worried about was my Barbies, and I also miss not having to go to school when I was really young. When I was a little kid, I would always go to a nice condo every summer with my granny, but now that I’m older, we don’t always go a lot of places. I miss going anywhere with my granny.
What story does your family always tell about you?
One time at Styx River, me and my dad climbed a tree to jump into the water. I tried to back out, but my dad pushed me out before I climbed down. My dad thought it was hilarious but my mom thought otherwise. To me, I thought it was terrifying, but as soon as I hit the water, I was proud of myself for climbing that tree.
What are your extracurricular activities?
The only extracurricular activity I am in is Newspaper. I want to be part of FFA my sophomore year. I think it would be a great experience to join FFA. I really love the idea of taking care of animals and learning how to farm. I think that’s really interesting.
Where do you work and what have you learned there?
I don’t have a job yet, but I do babysit. Babysitting teaches me a lot of patience. It also teaches me how to be responsible and take care of people. I’m considered the “mom friend” in my group, because I always have the things they need like food, an extra jacket, or something to pass the time with.
The best advice I would give a 10-year-old me would be?
Just be yourself and be a kid for as long as you can. Don’t let anyone get you down or stop you. Also try painting your walls any color other than pink.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
I would put the money into a savings account or college, something I won’t regret. I would also split it with my parents. The main thing I would do is to be responsible on how I spend it.
What was an experience that made you a stronger person?
I would have to say my parents and the way they taught me. They taught me to stand up for who I am and to let nobody stand in my way of my dreams. They also had a good way of discipline.
