Amber Bennett is a junior at Foley High School in the graduating class of 2020. After school, Amber works at a fast food restaurant the days she does not have practice. Amber is in the winterguard for her high school and plans to do colorguard and winterguard at the University of South Alabama after she graduates. She is also in clubs such as National Honor Society and Junior Ambassadors, which she enjoys being in. Her personality is quiet but friendly, and she also loves to read.
What are your post graduation plans?
My post graduation plans are pretty common in comparison with most other high schoolers. I plan to go to college at the University of South Alabama to major in chemistry while continuing to work. It’s close to home, so I can keep visiting my family and friends.
Tell us about the friends you’ve made thought your school years.
I have made great friends throughout my school years, but the best ones I’ve made are Presley Middleton, Genesis Rivera, Shelly Barcelona, and Alexius Mcgaster. They are my bestest friends ever, and I can’t imagine what my life would be like without them. They mean so much to me!
What’s your favorite outdoor/indoor activity and why?
My favorite outdoor activity is going to the beach, because it is very relaxing, and I can get tan. My favorite indoor activity is to listen to music in my room while reading. I read in my room almost every day.
What is your favorite time of the day/week/or month and why?
My favorite day of the week is Friday. Friday I usually don´t work or have practice. Friday is also the last day of school for the week, and I try to go and do stuff with friends. 🙂
What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life and why did you choose them?
Songs that would be on the soundtrack of my life include Blood on the Leaves by Kanye West, Old Fashioned by Bruno Major, and Wish You Were Gay by Billie Eilish. These three songs I listen to everyday and fit the type of person I am within the genre of music I like.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
The thing I miss most about being kid is not having to worry about so much. High school is so stressful with juggling school assignments, clubs, work, and winterguard. I’ve learned how to keep everything under control and in order.
What are your extra curricular activities?
My extra curricular activities include winterguard, working at Foosackly’s, and spending time with my family. I try to do at least one of these a day and manage it fairly well. I also like to watch The Office on Netflix and read.
Where do you work and what have you learned there?
I work at the Foosackly’s in Foley and have learned many customer service qualities through working there. I’ve also learned what it’s like to make your own money and manage it wisely. I’ve also made new friends with everyone there and plan to continue working there for a while.
Who would you like to thank and why?
I would like to thank my parents with helping me get through all of life’s problems, along with my managers and coworkers at my work. I would also like to thank my winterguard team with all the love and support I get from them and my instructors; they have helped me succeed in becoming a better flag member than I could imagine.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
The first thing I would do if I won the lottery is donate it to local charities and groups that are in need of money for repairs and improvements. I would also donate some of it to our high school band and winterguard with how underfunded we are.
