Kayla Stringer is a junior at Foley High School. She enjoys painting and doing creative things outside of school. She is in Junior Ambassadors, FEC, and Colorguard in the band. She is very indecisive and mostly quiet, but when you get to know her, she’s still quiet.
What are your post graduation plans?
I plan to finish my associates in aviation and possibly start a business. If that doesn’t work out, then I’m interested in Speech Language Pathology. Being a Dental Hygienist looks like a good option, too.
What’s your favorite outdoor/indoor activity and why?
I like to paint outside when it is sunny and when I have nothing to do. When it is warm, I like to go outside. Painting is relaxing to me and helps me feel better.
What is your favorite time of the day/week/or month and why?
My favorite time is Friday when school is done, and I can hangout with my friends. Also, I really enjoy Friday nights when there is a football game. I love to dance in the stands with my friends.
What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life and why did you choose them?
Soul to Squeeze by Red Hot Chilli Peppers is probably my all time favorite song. It was my grandpa’s favorite song, and it reminds me of my dad and him. It reminds me of good times with my family.
Where do you work and what have you learned there?
I work at OWA, and I have learned how to work as a team and find alternative solutions. I also babysit for a few kids. Both jobs have helped me with time management and finding things to do to occupy my free time.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
I miss not caring about everything and not stressing about what will happen next. Now, all I can think about is what’s coming up. Times then were just great when I would hang out with my brother before he moved out.
Tell us about the friends you’ve made thought your school years.
I found a good group of friends that don’t talk behind each other’s backs and have the same sense of humor as me. We all understand our differences, but we also like them same things. They are trustworthy and make me feel better after a long day.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
I would buy my parents a house and make sure that my family is well off. I would make sure I was well off too, and then put money away in savings, using it when I needed it the most. If I had a lot of money and used it all the time, there would be nothing to strive for.
What are your extracurricular activities?
I am in Colorguard, Junior Ambassadors, and FEC. I’m also in Police Explorers. Police Explorers is a program with the police were you help with activities in the city and learn about responsibility. I recommend it if you need service hours and you want to go on a free trip at the end of the year to Universal Studios.
