I just wanted to say thank you for becoming my stepdad.
You have been there for me and my two sisters since our dad left us about five years ago. I appreciate you being there, and I appreciate and apologize for you going through my teen time. Really, I’m still going through it, with all my attitude issues and days when I am just outright rude, so thank you for putting up with me.
I truly was a rude and disrespectful young girl when we met you. When I saw my mom look at you in a caring way, I just knew you would soon be my new dad and my mom’s new husband. I was scared at first to have another father, but you treated her very well and you still do. I want you to know it was hard at first, because I was my daddies little girl, and now I am also yours. I will always be your little girl no matter how old I get, and I am proud to be your new daughter and your big little girl.
I know my new baby brother and sister will grow up and be happy, and I will too for the rest of my life. We will have a family game night, eat popcorn, watch TV, and do everything a family should do.
I just want to say Thank You Dad, and I am proud to say I Love You, and call you my dad.
So for all of you out there reading this with an extra dad roaming around your house, grab your stepdad and call him Dad. Tell him you love him and you appreciate him, or even write to him or do something for him that he will appreciate. It does not have to be Father’s Day to give your dad a hug, write to him, or say a nice comment to him.
Small or big, girls and boys show some love toward your stepdad, because he is here for you now. Stepdads frequently pay for your clothes and your phone. They work to pay for those J’s on your feet, for those braces, and for all those those incidental things you don’t really need.
I love you, Dad, and I will always love you……!
