The Transition and Community classes took a tunnel tour in Mobile, Alabama.
On this tour, we learned about how the tunnels were made. We also learned about how they detect traffic jams, accidents, and broken down cars. They told us about the precautions they have to take to keep the tunnel running, like flooding, car wrecks, and hurricanes.
Mrs. Craver said, “The tunnel was the best field trip we’ve been on this far. The TV surveillance room was amazing. There’s so much that goes into reversing lanes during a hurricane or whenever other evacuations emergencies occur. The staff did such a wonderful job under these circumstances, and everyone should visit the tunnels if they get a chance.”
