We’ve all heard the saying “laughter is the best medicine,” and some studies have even shown that it truly is. Laughter not only has positive psychological effects but also has many prosperous effects on the physical body.
Laughing can actually boost your immune system. Somehow laughter increases certain types of white blood cells and antibodies that fight off infection and sickness.
Laughing creates more social opportunities for you. It may sound strange, but laughter attracts people to you.
Laughing releases stress. Yes, laughing actually lowers the number of stress hormones a person has.
According to psychologytoday.com, laughing works out your abs. Apparently, when you laugh you are “exercising your diaphragm and contracting your abs,” which should give everybody a reason to want to laugh more often.
Laughing somehow relieves pain. When you laugh, chemicals in your brain are released which cause pain relief, though results are better when you’re laughing with other people than when you’re laughing alone.
So the next time you’re judging somebody for laughing too loudly, just remember the amazing health benefits they’re receiving and rethink your own scrooge-like mentality.
