Ralie Marshall is a senior at Foley High School, graduating in May with the class of 2020. She is involved in FFA, NHS, NTHS, Peer Helpers, Key Club, TA, and Prom Committee. She works at Chick-fil-A three days a week; she is lightning fast on any front of house position and can even make the salads. She is an all-time school winner of the annual horse chasing team and the chicken roundup. She has loved competing in FFA competitions since her freshman year. She loves to have fun and be a part of her community, always.
What are your extracurricular activities?
I am a very involved student, just a heads up! I am an officer in FFA and have been for the past two years. I’m in NHS, NTHS, Peer Helpers, TA, and Key Club. I love working hard, meeting new people, and getting involved in the community.
What are some things that I like to do to have fun?
I love being able to have free time to myself. I like to read, sleep, build something, play with my animals, do a puzzle, listen to music, and just relax in general. I also love camping with my family and my dog whenever we get the chance to go.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself in Auburn studying to be a vet. My part-time job will be at a vet clinic nearby, learning with hands-on experiences. I also see myself being a better person with a better attitude.
Do you know what career you might want to pursue?
I want to be either a large animal, farm animal, or an exotic vet. I haven’t really decided which one I wanted to do, but those are my two options at the moment. I have always loved animals, and I know that it is my life’s passion.
What are you worried about in the future?
I am worried that I will never be able to make myself or my parents proud. I have always strived to be the best I can be. I just never want to disappoint them ever, and it scares me to think that there is a huge possibility for that disappointment.
What is your favorite book?
I have read too many books to be able to pick a favorite. I love the Harry Potter series and also the Percy Jackson books too. They have all been my favorites since the day I first read them.
How would you celebrate your 100th birthday?
I’ll be turning it up with my bestie, Madyson, at a hick-themed bonfire party. We will be having an all-nighter ’til I fall asleep, but the party will keep going. I can’t wait until my 101st birthday.
Why do you want to live in the South?
Alabama is the most diverse state in the United States. The town of Foley is a large part of that. We are near the beach, have our own amusement park and our own mall, and it’s one of the biggest tourist attractions in Baldwin county.
What is your favorite type of music?
I’m sure by now y’all can guess what my favorite type of music is: country, of course! I love all of the older artists from before my time, but I also like the newer ones.
What advice would you give younger kids about middle or high school?
I would tell them to enjoy being a kid because growing up sucks. Life used to be easy; there were no worries. You just got to be yourself and have fun. As you get older, you have to take on more responsibilities like a job and school. So have fun!
