Alexis Coleman is a senior at Foley High School in the graduating class of 2020. In school, she is involved in Lion Pride News. In her free time, Alexis is found binging Netflix or reading a good book. She loves hanging out with her family and friends. She really enjoys trying new things, especially new foods.
What was your favorite book as a child?
I had a few books as a kid that I absolutely loved. My favorite book is Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. I remember my mom reading it to me before bed, and I fell in love with it.
The best advice I would give a 14-year-old me would be?
For me, I hated being 14. The best advice I would have for her would be, “Stay strong. High school doesn’t last forever.” I would give my past self a hug too.
What three songs would you use to describe your teen years?
I have a whole playlist to describe my teenage years. If I had to pick three songs, they would be “Impossible Year” by Panic! At the Disco, “Big Sis by SALES,” and “Heart of Glass” by Blondie. These are an odd mix, but all together they pretty much explain how I felt through these years.
What is your favorite time of the day/week/or month and why?
My favorite month is probably either October, because of Halloween, or April, because it’s my birthday month. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week because it’s a halfway point. For me, the early morning right as the sun is coming up is my favorite time of day, because everything is quiet and peaceful.
Who would you like to thank and why?
There are a couple of people I would like to thank. I would like to thank my older sister, Josi, because she’s been such a supportive role in my life. Also, I would thank my mom, because even though we have our differences about things, she’s always been there for me.
What is your favorite quote and why?
My favorite quote is by Danny Devito. It states, “I’m the Trash Man! I come out, I throw trash all over the- all over the ring! And then I start eatin’ garbage!” It has really inspired me through my life.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
I miss being able to sit down and just relax. Since becoming a teenager, I feel like my life has been at an extremely fast pace. I wish I could just lay back and enjoy life without being stressed 24/7.
If you could change one thing about your high school experience, what would it be and why?
If I could change one thing, it would probably be the friends I made. Through my recent years as a high schooler, I met some people who I thought really enjoyed my company and wanted to actually be my friend. Unfortunately, they just wanted to use me and talk about me behind my back.
What was your favorite snack as a kid and why?
My favorite snack as a kid was graham crackers. I would just have fun and eat graham crackers all day. Those were the golden years.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you choose?
If I could meet anyone, I would want to meet Bob Ross. He was always positive, encouraged people, and did the right thing. He is one of my heroes, and I hope to be more like him one day.
